Why

We needed a static site generator. The ones that existed were either too much or not quite right. So we built one.

That's it. No manifesto.

What it is

A Rust binary that reads Markdown files and writes HTML. Tera templates, YAML frontmatter, TOML config. It builds fast because it doesn't do much.

No plugin system, no JS bundling, no dev server. Those might come if they're needed. Right now they're not.

Single binary. No runtime. Builds in milliseconds. We were already writing Rust.

Why Radicle

Thermite is hosted on Radicle — a peer-to-peer code forge built on Git. We use it for everything, so the SSG lives there too.

Anyone who wants to turn Markdown into a website without thinking about the tool. If you need more, use something bigger. No hard feelings.
